The Agency for Instructional Technology is a premiere educational content provider. AIT developed The Learning Source in conjunction with Magic Lantern Group Inc. as a means to provide our outstanding materials in an easy-to-use digital arena.
Magic Lantern Group Inc. developed The Learning Source application in conjunction with AIT using a variety of software and applications. Free software developers provide a good deal of the software. Only a small portion of this web application was developed using proprietary software. In addition to using free software, Magic Lantern provides free software. Sonoptic Technologies - Sonoptic Technologies provides The Learning Source with it's digitized versions of the Magic Lantern video library. Content from Magic Lantern is digitally encoded and compressed at Sonoptic's headquarters in Saint John, New Brunswick. This content is digitized using a variety of high-end applications and tools to provide the highest streaming video quality.
PostgreSQL - the databases used by tutorbuddy are all powered by the PostgreSQL relational database management system.
Perl - the The Learning Source search engine uses Perl to create inverse indexes for keyword searches.
Apache-SSL - in order to increase security between our web servers and our users, The Learning Source's web servers have been fortified using Apache-SSL.
Windows Media Services - the streaming media servers used for The Learning Source's video playback are powered by Microsoft's Windows Media Services.
AWStats - AWStats analyzes Apache's access and error logs and creates a variety of reports, graphs and statistics for the The Learning Source web servers.

Comodo - our web server SSL certificates have been signed by Comodo, a trusted Certificate Authority.
